What to do if bank feeds stop working","Bank feeds are an automatic import of your bank and credit card transactions straight into Xero. Today’s transactions are imported into Xero overnight, ready for reconciling tomorrow.\n\nThe benefits of bank feeds are:\n- You will save a lot of time on manual data entry. It also makes bank reconciliations much faster. \n- Reduce mistakes as bank transactions are imported directly from your bank. \n- Get an almost real time view of your cash inflows and cash outflows. This assists with making better business decisions. \n- Your bank feed data is transferred via secure, encrypted connection. \n\n### Here is how to set up bank feeds:\nFirstly, you need to be registered for online banking with your bank.\n\nIn Xero, select the accounting menu\n1. In Xero, select **Accounting > Bank Accounts**\n2. Click **Add Bank Account**\n3. Type in the name of your bank (e.g. CBA)\n4. Click **Login & Connect Accounts**\n5. You will be taken to your bank to log in. \n6.\tSelect the accounts you want to share with Xero. Complete the sharing steps. You will be re-directed back to Xero.\n7.\tCheck the correct bank accounts have been selected. Each account should have a green tick before you click continue.\n8.\tConfirm the date you would like to start from. You can import upto 12 months of transactions.\n9.\tClick Finish\n\n### FAQs\n**How much time will bank feeds save me?**\nA survey of over 180 Xero users report saving 5.5 hours per week using bank feeds and bank rules.\n\n\n**How much does Xero bank feeds cost?**\nBank feeds are included in your Xero subscription. You can have unlimited bank and credit card feeds. There is also no cost per bank transaction. \n\n**Can I import historical bank transactions?**\nYes, you can import up to 12 months of prior transaction if your bank allows this. You can only import historical transactions when establishing your bank feed. If you have already established your bank feed, you will need to manually import the bank transactions. See below, **What happens if bank or credit card transactions are missed and are not imported into Xero? What should I do?**\n\n\n**I use Stripe. Can I set up a Stripe bank feed?**\nYes, you can set up a Stripe bank feed, so all your stripe transactions are automatically imported into Xero. \n\n**I have a credit card that I use partly for my business and partly for my personal expenses. Should I set up a bank feed for this?**\n\nIt depends on whether the card is a company credit card or a personal credit card. If it is a company credit card, you should set up the bank feed.\n\nIf it is a personal credit card and your business is either a company or trust you should not set up the bank feed. \n\nIf it is a personal credit card and your business is either a sole trader or a partnership your decision will be based on the number of personal transactions. The more personal transactions the less likely you would want to set up a bank feed for this account. The reason is you will need to code all the personal transactions. \n\n**What happens if bank or credit card transactions are missed and are not imported into Xero? What should I do?**\nThis does happen occasionally. This can happen due to the timing of when your bank changes a transaction from pending to cleared and processed. \n\nHere are the steps:\n1.\tIdentify the missing transactions\n2.\tLogin to your online banking account\n3.\tExport the missing transactions to a CSV file\n\nIn Xero, select Accounting > Bank Accounts\n\nClick the overflow menu (three dots)\n\nUnder the reconcile menu, select import a statement\n\nClick the download Xero CSV template\n\nFormat the exported transactions into the CSV template.\n\n**Pro tip:** both income and expenses must be in the same column. Show income as positive amounts and expenses as negative amounts. For the negative amounts use either a negative sign or brackets. \n\nOnce you saved the CSV file, either drag and drop or find the CSV file manually. \n \n\n**My Xero bank feed has stopped working**\n\nIn Xero, select Accounting > Bank Accounts\n\nClick the overflow menu (three dots)\n\nUnder Direct Connect, ensure bank fees are activated \n\n\n* Check for a disruption to bank feeds from Xero central. \n\nUnder Direct Connect, click the view status updates or this [link](\nhttps://central.xero.com/s/article/Disruptions-to-bank-feeds#Australia) will take you there. \n\n* Fix issues with your bank connection\n\nRenew your bank feeds, if they have stopped working\n\nRe-enter your login details\n\nCheck your browser\n\nHere is a [link](\nhttps://central.xero.com/s/article/Disruptions-to-bank-feeds#Australia) with more detailed steps in Xero Central\n\n* Check for any missing bank transactions. If there are missing bank transactions you will need to import these into Xero. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n",{"data":35},{"attributes":36},{"url":37,"alternativeText":38,"width":39,"height":39,"formats":40,"hash":67,"ext":42},"https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0.png","Xero Bank Feeds",1080,{"large":41,"small":49,"medium":55,"thumbnail":61},{"ext":42,"url":43,"hash":44,"mime":45,"name":46,"path":12,"size":47,"width":48,"height":48},".png","https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/large_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0.png","large_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0","image/png","large_Xero Bank Feeds.png",99.53,1000,{"ext":42,"url":50,"hash":51,"mime":45,"name":52,"path":12,"size":53,"width":54,"height":54},"https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/small_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0.png","small_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0","small_Xero Bank Feeds.png",35.84,500,{"ext":42,"url":56,"hash":57,"mime":45,"name":58,"path":12,"size":59,"width":60,"height":60},"https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/medium_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0.png","medium_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0","medium_Xero Bank Feeds.png",63.92,750,{"ext":42,"url":62,"hash":63,"mime":45,"name":64,"path":12,"size":65,"width":66,"height":66},"https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/thumbnail_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0.png","thumbnail_Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0","thumbnail_Xero Bank Feeds.png",8.7,156,"Xero_Bank_Feeds_ff40b1c8c0",{"metaTitle":69,"metaViewport":12,"metaRobots":12,"metaDescription":70,"keywords":71,"metaSocial":72},"Xero bank feeds setup and faq","how to setup xero bank feeds and what to do if bank feeds stops working"," xero bank feeds",[],"Andrew McVinish","2026-01-29","2026-03-11T05:37:26.198Z",{"data":77},{"footer":78},{"data":79},{"attributes":80},{"FooterDescription":81,"FooterLink":82},"Website created by WeArePF | Liability limited by scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation",[83,95,108],{"id":84,"Text":85,"Link":86,"Icon":87},"2","hello@lightbeamca.com.au","mailto:hello@lightbeamca.com.au ",{"data":88},{"attributes":89},{"ext":24,"alternativeText":90,"name":91,"url":92,"hash":93,"width":94,"height":94,"formats":12},"Email icon","email-icon.svg","https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/email_icon_ed33ba1343.svg","email_icon_ed33ba1343",29,{"id":96,"Text":97,"Link":98,"Icon":99},"1","1300 530 478","tel:+1300 530 478",{"data":100},{"attributes":101},{"ext":24,"alternativeText":102,"name":103,"url":104,"hash":105,"width":106,"height":107,"formats":12},"Mobile icon","lb-mobile-icon.svg","https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/lb_mobile_icon_775f8426f0.svg","lb_mobile_icon_775f8426f0",18,27,{"id":109,"Text":110,"Link":111,"Icon":112},"3","1st Floor, 73 Oxford Street,\u2028Bulimba QLD 4171","https://maps.app.goo.gl/ToEX39UsKjMDdGjV7",{"data":113},{"attributes":114},{"ext":24,"alternativeText":115,"name":116,"url":117,"hash":118,"width":119,"height":120,"formats":12},"Location icon","lb-location-icon.svg","https://lightbeam.syd1.digitaloceanspaces.com/lb_location_icon_c029d2da74.svg","lb_location_icon_c029d2da74",23,28,{"data":122},{"renderNavigation":123},[124,129],{"id":125,"title":126,"path":127,"items":128},2,"Privacy policy","/privacy-policy",[],{"id":130,"title":131,"path":132,"items":133},3,"Terms of service","/terms-and-conditions",[],{"data":135},{"renderNavigation":136},[137,142,147,152,157],{"id":138,"title":139,"path":140,"items":141},8,"Services for Tradies","/accounting-for-queensland-tradies",[],{"id":143,"title":144,"path":145,"items":146},5,"About","/about",[],{"id":148,"title":149,"path":150,"items":151},6,"How we work","/how-we-work",[],{"id":153,"title":154,"path":155,"items":156},7,"Pricing","/pricing",[],{"id":158,"title":159,"path":160,"items":161},4,"Blog","/blog",[],{"data":163},{"renderNavigation":164},[],{"data":166},{"cookiePopups":167},{"data":168},[],{"data":170},{"renderNavigation":171},[172],{"id":173,"title":174,"path":175,"items":176},1,"Get started","/contact",[],1787571177600]
